Early this morning an inmate escaped from the Walker County Jail after overpowering a guard. Trent DeRay Archie, 29 was last seen in the Forest Hill Subdivision in Huntsville wearing a T-shirt and black shorts. He is considered armed and dangerous. Archie has a long history of criminal activity from possession to evading to theft. Some of those cases have been in Montgomery County.
Archie was accused of shooting a Huntsville man in 2006 and received a 40-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. That inmate had his case overturned by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in 2009.
Archie was currently in jail on a narcotics charge.
Archie is reported to be in a grey Toyota and possibly armed with a 9mm hand gun.
