A family of 5 barely got out of their home on Wichita St. in Houston early Saturday morning before it became an inferno. Houston Fire Department responded just after 530 am. They arrived to find heavy fire conditions, however as they were able to knock it down, heavy black smoke began to billow out of the roof. The District Chief ordered all fire crews to exit the house. As the last man came out the upper section of the house erupted in flames once again. A small child was snatched by her mother seconds before flames reached her. The mother was alerted by the smoke. The owner believes the fire started in an area where a new widow air conditioner/heater was installed. Houston Fire Department Arson with investigate to determine the case. The house has been in the family over 50 years.
