FATAL ACCIDENT CLAIMS GRANGERLAND AREA MAN

At 630am this morning Precinct 4 Chief Deputy Barry Welch was southbound on FM3080 between Massey Road and FM 2090 when he passed a 2010 Ford F-150 red pickup in the front yard of a home. At first it just looked like a truck parked at an odd angle next to a tree. On further inspection he realized this truck had hit the tree. After contacting the dispatcher to request medical help he exited his vehicle and found John Wiggins age 40 lying on the ground approximately twenty feet from the truck. There were no signs of life.
DPS Trooper Olesner was dispatched to the scene and determined the vehicle was southbound on FM 3083 after passing Massey Road left the roadway to the left traveling over three hundred feet and striking a tree head on. He believes Mr. Wiggins exited the vehicle on his own before passing on. In addition as the truck traveled across a front yard it struck a driveway going airbourne a short distance. He believes alcohol was a factor in the Accident.
Judge Trey Spikes pronounced Mr.. Wiggins dead and ordered Metcalf Funeral Directors to transport him to the forensic center in Dallas, Texas since the Southeast Forensic Center in Conroe closed.
This has been the 30th fatal accident in Montgomery County this year.
