At 8:39 p.m. Trooper Lucchesi of the Texas Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a major accident on Gosling Road just south of Flintridge.
When he arrived on the scene Montgomery County Hospital District medics were already transporting Charles Driffill, 32 of Spring, his wife Jamie, 33 and their two sons ages 4 and 5. The children were uninjured , however their parents suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Medics also pronounced a 71 year old Brenda Tassin dead on the scene.
According to Trooper Lucchesi, Charles Driffill was driving south on Gosling in his 2008 black Ford Expedition when the older female for unknown reasons turned in front of him. Unable to stop the Expedition slammed into the deceased females passenger side of the 2001 Volkswagen. This pushed the passenger door of the Volkswagen to the center console.
An autopsy will be performed at the Montgomery County Forensic Center on Thursday.
Another witness said they swerved from missing her also and ran up into the tree line.
Gosilng Road was closed until almost midnight as the accident investigation continued. Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Harris County Precinct 4 Constables closed off traffic to the bridge traveling northbound toward the accident scene. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies closed off southbound Gosling forcing vehicles going into Harris County to use IH-45 or Kuykendahl Road.
The accident investigation will continue. The cause of death has not been determined yet.
This is the second fatal crash in this stretch of road. Several years ago another SUV came around the corner to fast crashing into the tree line and killing her instantly.
