FM 830 at Thompson Road has just been cleared after an accident just after 5 p.m. took the life of Gerson Garcia, 17 of Houston. He was the passenger in the 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage that was driven by Ezra Garcia 22, also of Houston.

According to DPS Trooper Craig Ward the Garcia’s were westbound on FM 830 and had just passed Thompson Road. A rain shower had just started and the road surface was wet. Garcia applied the brake to slow down for traffic when his car began to hydroplane. Garcia’s vehicle continued across the center line sideways and into the path of a 2007 GMC Envoy driven by Kirk Jones, 38 of Willis. Jones attempted to take evasive action by steering toward the ditch but the Garcia vehicle continued into his path. Kirk struck Garcia in the passenger door.

MCHD and North Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the scene. The youngest was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. Ezra Garcia was transported in stable condition as was Jones.

The accident continues to be under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.

A resident who lives on FM 830 where the accident occurred said that anytime the road gets a small amount of water on it that ist becomes extremely slick.

They were brothers, I knew Ezra from HS and my sister knows Gerson from High School as well. Family, friends, and classmates are hurting very much in this difficult time, not only was he a great kid with a bright future he was going to be Milby High School’s Valedictorian for the class of 2012. Gerson forever in our hearts.

Were the Garcia’s related? Usually when there’s a story with two or more people with the same last name relationships are usually mentioned.
