fatal accident on fm1314

Just after 8:00pm Sunday MCHD, River Plantation Fire Department and Caney Creek Fire Department responded to a report of a major accident at FM 1314 and Strausie which is just south of SH 242.

When they arrived on the scene they found a 2003 silver Saturn in the ditch with heavy front end damage. Inside the vehicle were the driver Sara Nichole Milligan age 21 of Humble and her passenger Brittnay Liegh Tidwell, age 19, of Porter. Both girls were trapped, as they started to rescue them the vehicle caught fire but was quickly extinguished.

Sara was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital with severe head trauma.

Brittnay was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace James Metts who ordered an autopsy.

A witness who was behind the vehicle said it was south on FM 1314 and for no reason left the roadway striking the culvert pipe.

It was reported the girls left the Ren-Fest after working there all day. According to DPS it is possible the driver dozed off. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time but the investigation will continue.

Warren Diepraam with the District Attorney’s Office and an officer from TABC also responded to the scene which is now standard procedure.
