Just after 9am Montgomery County Precinct 4 Motorist Assistance Unit was dispatched to US 59 southbound just north of Northpark for a disabled vehicle. Within minutes of receiving that call Porter Fire Department and MCHD were dispatched to the same location for an auto pedestrian accident.
When they arrived they found a Ford pickup against the right shoulder wall with it’s driver lying in front of it. The yet unidentified driver who was approximately 60 years of age was dead on the scene.
The Ford F-350 that struck him was approximately one hundred yards beyond the scene.
According to DPS the driver of the disabled vehicle got out to check on his truck when the Ford F-350 drove onto the shoulder striking the victim and his truck.
US 59 was closed until just before noon as troopers conducted their investigation. They were assisted with traffic control by both Texas Department of Transportation and the Houston Police Department.
Judge James Metts pronounced the victim deceased and ordered an autopsy be conducted in Dallas.
According to DPS charges are not being filed at this time but it will be up to a grand jury to determine if charges will be brought against the driver.
