Early Thursday morning a crash on US 59 in Liberty County had traffic backed up on US 59 into Splendora. An 18 wheeler was at a stop, a motor home pulling a trailer loaded with motorcycles was stopped behind the 18-wheeler, a red Ford F150 was stopped behind those two vehicles. A driver in a Dodge pickup came up behind and failed to stop. That driver slammed into the red pickup crushing it and driving it forward. The Ford pickup then struck the trailer loaded with motorcycles and continued until it sideswiped the 18-wheeler causing it to spin and hit the wall. Before striking the wall the white pickup truck with heavy front damage passed between the wall and the red truck and came to rest approximately 100 feet further down the road. MCHD and East Montgomery County Fire responded and performed CPR on the male driver of the red truck but he was declared deceased. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn responded to the scene to perform an inquest and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy . DPS is assisting Splendora with the investigation. The driver of the white truck was transported to Kingwood Hospital for a blood draw but was not injured. There were no other injuries.
