A single-vehicle crash claimed the driver’s life on SH 105 around 2:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred on SH 105 about 4.5 miles east of Moss Hill in Liberty County.
According to DPS, the driver, 33-year-old Earnest Charles, Jr., of Beaumont, was westbound on SH 105 in Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, pulling a Texas Bragg gooseneck trailer when he drifted onto the unimproved shoulder and then overcorrected. The overcorrection sent the truck and trailer into a sideways skid into the eastbound lane, continuing into the ditch on the south side of the road. The truck rolled onto its side and then top, and the trailer was pulled on top of it.
Charles was pronounced dead on the scene by Judge Wade Brown.
