fatal crash in new caney

Just after 5 a.m. Friday morning New Caney Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle on fire in the woods. The location given was Deer Run at Coachlight. When they arrived on the scene they found a Jeep Cherokee in the heavily wooded front yard of a  home under construction. As firefighters fought the fire they discovered a body in the vehicle. DPS was notified as it appeared the vehicle had left the roadway and hit a tree,

According to DPS the Jeep Cherokee was southbound on Deer Run at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to stop for the stop sign at the three way intersection. The truck went through the intersection, became airborne and struck a wooden fence, penetrating the fence. The vehicle continued into the yard and struck a tree and was engulfed in flames,

The driver who believed to be a male was burned beyond recognition. The license plates and vehicle identification numbers were melted from the vehicle.

Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the body to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy and identification.
