FATAL CRASH IN PORTER

At 1:40 am Sunday Montgomery County Dispatchers took a call for an auto vs tree crash at Brazos and Riverwalk in the Riverwalk Subdivision. Porter Fire and MCHD responded along with DPS, MCSO and Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables. The found a 1954 Chevrolet with the driver trapped inside. Medics determined he was deceased. According to DPS, the driver, Erik Martinez Tellez, a Houston Metro Police Sargeant had gone to a friend’s house. Tellez had gone to a friend’s house just down the street from the crash. His friend and the owner of the vehicle went inside the house as they were about to go out driving the Chevrolet. While the friend was inside, Tellez took the car out onto Riverwalk Drive. He struck the tree at a high rate of speed. Riverwalk remained closed until just after 5 am. Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
