A 5:30 am fatal crash on FM 1097 at Business Park in Willis Wednesday closed FM 1097 for most of the morning. A Dodge 3500 truck that was traveling west on FM 1097. A 56-year-old female was in a Ford F150 traveling east and turned left onto Business Park failing to yield to the oncoming truck. Her vehicle was struck, the Dodge truck ran off the road into an open field. North Montgomery Fire and MCHD responded to the scene they found the female trapped in her Ford pickup for a short time. They attempted life-saving measures but were unable to save her. DPS assisted Willis Police in the investigation. The driver of the Dodge was not injured and is cooperating with investigators. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Forensic Center for autopsy. The speed limit in the area is 55 and goes to 45 about 100 yards past the crash scene.
As investigators were on this scene an SUV struck a power pole on Cochran Street in Willis. Power lines fell cutting power to most places in Wilis including JP Court, Willis Police, Stripes, Exxon and several traffic lights and homes. The driver of that crash fled the scene.
