FATAL HOUSE FIRE IN SPLENDORA

Last Saturday around 11:15 p.m., New Caney Fire Department responded to a house fire on Hill and Dale at First Terrace in the Splendora area. A medic from an EMS station just around the corner was first on the scene and reported fire through the roof of the single story home. Moments later, fire trucks arrived from New Caney, Porter, Splendora, Plum Grove, and Cut and Shoot and attempted to gain entry to the home. Initially, they were pushed back by flames but were soon able to get into the home and fight the blaze as they searched for what was reported as two victims. They discovered the body of a 55-year-old male in the bathroom and removed him from the home. Medics determined he was deceased. The search for the second person was suspended when they learned that person had not been at home at the time of the fire.

Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Spikes ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Forensic Center in Conroe for autopsy.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal responded to the scene and is investigating the cause of the blaze.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of remaining family members.
