FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH CLOSES CROCKETT MARTIN FOR HOURS

At 6:08 pm Wednesday calls began to come into Montgomery County 911  reporting a motorcycle crash on Crockett Martin Road just north of FM 2090. Caney Creek Fire responded along with MCHD. Units arrived on the scene at 6:15 pm and found a male in his 40s in the middle of the road. CPR was immediately initiated. After just over 20 minutes the male was pronounced deceased on the scene. Crockett Martin Road was closed until just after 10 pm as DPS investigated. Initial reports are the motorcycle was traveling north on Crockett Martin at a high rate of speed. A Chevrolet 2500 pickup which had been southbound on Crockett Martin picking up tree limbs that were being cut away from power lines turned left into a private driveway in order to go back northbound. He did not see the motorcycle. The Harley Davidson motorcycle left just over 100 feet of skid mark before slamming into the rear of the pickup. The driver was then ejected as the motorcycle continued another 100 feet down the road.  The investigation will be turned over to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. A mandatory blood draw was done on the pickup driver as in all fatal crashes. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack was notified and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The truck was not associated with the company trimming trees. The driver was picking up trimmed tree limbs to take home to his goats.
