MCHD was dispatched to a reported auto/bicycle accident in the 1200 block of FM 2854 just after 1:30am this morning. A taxi cab was eastbound on FM 2854 in a 2002 Crown Victoria under the IH45 overpass. A white male riding a bicycle with just a small light on it was northbound and failed to yield to the cab. The cab struck the rider at which time he hit the windshield and was then ejected to the ground. MCHD transported him to Conroe Regional Medical Center in critical condition with severe head injuries. He later passed away. The driver of the cab, Byron Johnson of Conroe was uninjured and it was determined that he was not impaired at the time of the crash. The victim has not yet been identified as he had no identification in his possession.
