FIVE DOGS PERISH IN NEW CANEY HOUSE FIRE

Shortly after 10 pm Wednesday New Caney firefighters along with Caney Creek and Porter responded to a house fire in the 17000 block of Oak Grove. When they arrived, they found a one-story wood frame home fully involved. Firefighters also learned of 7 dogs inside the home. A search was done and two dogs were found and brought safe. Five others did not make it, it is believed they died from smoke inhalation. One female occupant who was home at the time was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. The owner of the home who lost her son to a motorcycle crash close to 4 months ago, also lost all his memories in the fire.
