This morning, Friday, July 27, 2012, members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Unit, led by the U.S. Marshal’s Office, along with Harris County Sheriff’s Patrol District 1, were in the process of serving a felony warrant on a wanted subject.
The male subject, now identified as Darrick Shelton born 07/09/1973, was wanted on an aggravated assault of a family member from the 230th District Court.
He left his residence on a motorcycle and was traveling east on Spring Stuebner. A Harris County Sheriff’s marked patrol unit attempted to stop the motorcycle with emergency lightsactivated. Shelton accelerated and fled from the deputy. In the process of fleeing, the motorcycle attempted to pass a Dodge pickup truck and struck the driver’s side mirror. Shelton was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a concrete culvert in the adjacent ditch.
