GOING GAMBLING BUT CASINO ALREADY HAD HOT CHECK

SPLENDORA — On Sunday afternoon around 4:30, Deputy Juan Chapa with the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office made a routine traffic stop on Hwy 59 near Creekwood and a check of the driver’s license showed he had something to hide.

Huan Khak Tran, 37, of Houston had an out-of-state felony warrant for “Fraud – Theft by Check.” The warrant, active since October 2009, was from Allen Parrish, Louisiana because of a bad check to the Coushatta Casino Resort in the amount of $6,322.

The warrant is extraditable for surrounding states, so Tran will be going back to Louisiana, but not like he had planned. He had about $3,000 cash in his possession when Deputy Chapa stopped his black 2008 Mercedes Benz on Sunday and said he was en route to Louisiana to Gamble.

A second warrant for Tran’s arrest on the same charge appears to be active in the state of Mississippi, but has not been confirmed as of this writing.

The Vietnamese-born Houstonian has prior felony convictions in Texas for Theft of Property.
