Just before 8pm Huntsville Police received a call of a silver vehicle driving with no headlights south on I-45 in Huntsville. As the vehicle approached the Sam Houston statue Huntsville Police initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle driving at 70mph would not stop. Multiple agencies including Walker County, DPS, Panorama Village, Conroe, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Willis Police assisted in the pursuit by placing spikes and blocking entrances to the freeway. Wreckers were used to keep motorists at a safe distance. At Shepherd Hill Road the first tire was spiked and by the time the vehicle reached Conroe all 4 had been spiked and rubber was falling off. Deputies and wrecker drivers pulled tires and tire pieces out of the roadway as the chase continued. As they reached the Woodlands a deputy was able to get next to the vehicle and see the driver was an elderly female. They were able to get her to stop north of Rayford Road and the driver was identified as a 74-year-od female. EMS was called to check her as it appeared she had a medical condition and was not familiar with her surroundings. She was turned over to family members who were called.
