… Hard freeze warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 10 am
CST Thursday…
The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a
hard freeze warning… which is in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 10 am CST Thursday. The hard freeze watch is no longer in
An Arctic cold front will sweep across the area late this morning.
Temperatures will quickly fall below freezing within a couple of
hours following the frontal passage. Temperatures will drop into
the mid to upper 20s this afternoon and bottom out in the upper
teens to lower 20s late tonight. Gusty winds will combine with the
cold temperatures to result in wind chills of 5 to 15 degrees
tonight and early Thursday.
Remember to take care of plants… pets… pipes… and people. Also
remember to winterize or drain your sprinkler systems as they
will be prone to the elements as well.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A hard freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are
imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and
other sensitive vegetation.
