HEAD-ON CRASH ON SH 105 IN CUT AND SHOOT SENDS TWO TO THE HOSPITAL

Just before 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night Cut and Shoot Fire Department along with MCHD were dispatched to an injury accident in front of Crystal Creek Grocery on SH105 at Douget. First units on the scene found they had at least one entrapped patient and called for a second ambulance. Firefighters worked to free Brad McKenzie age 25, from the crushed KIA Spectra. His brother, Justin McKenzie, age 24, who was in the passenger seat and had been celebrating his birthday tonight was transported to Hermann Woodlands in serious condition. The driver once freed was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Ford Sportage, Charles Richard Todd, age 65 of Conroe received minor injuries and was not transported.
According to DPS Troopers, the Ford was westbound on SH105. The KIA pulled out of the Crystal Creek Grocery parking lot to go eastbound and failed to yield the right-of-way. Unable to stop the Ford slammed into the KIA.
The odor of beer could be smelled in the area and it was finally discovered to be coming from the trunk where several packs of glass beer bottles were found broken. None were found in the passenger compartment. It has not been determined if alcohol played a factor in the accident and the accident is still under investigation.
Traffic on SH105 was closed for over an hour.
