Heavy storms for Father’s Day

Sunday morning update:
Get ready for a rainy Father’s Day. This morning, only light showers in the area, but later in the day-heavy rain squalls will periodically cross the area. There should be enough breaks in the rain to keep major problems from occurring. Winds will begin to gust over 25 mph especially near the coast this evening.

Collin Myers says the most intense rains look to develop Sunday night and Monday with washout potential. The rain could be heavy enough to cause street flooding, and while bayou flooding is not likely at this time, it cannot be ruled out until we see how the storms line up.

Steady, strong southeast winds will produce dangerous rip currents in the Gulf so swimming is not advised. Those winds may also pile up enough water for some minor coastal flooding along the Bolivar Peninsula.
