The Houston Fire Department is reporting a major accident involving Fire Engine 58 North Houston. The accident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday on I-45 N. between Tidwell and Little York.

Engine 58 responded to car fire at that location, and as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, another vehicle struck the rear of the fire engine. Fortunately, no firefighters were standing at the rear of the fire truck, and none were injured by the collision. HFD Medic 58 transported one civilian to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital. Initial reports indicate the civilian’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Houston Police are investigating the crash.

As of 4:20 a.m., the driver’s identity has not been released and there has been no statement regarding whether the driver was impaired or what charges may be filed.
