HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN THE ARREST OF A SUSPECT WANTED FOR CUTTING HIS ANKLE MONITOR OFF

On April 11, 2020, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office were dispatched to an in-progress burglary of
a motor vehicle call when a deputy observed a reckless driver who matched the description of the vehicle the
the suspect fled in.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit. The vehicle
came to a stop in the 25000 block of Thrushwood Court and the suspect then fled on foot.
Constable Deputies gave chase and were able to apprehend the suspect who was identified as Dirk
Mendiola.
Further investigation revealed that he evaded from deputies because he was wanted for a Parole Violation
after cutting off his ankle monitor off.
“Dirk Mendiola was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open Parole Violation warrant
and was additionally charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle. His bond for the Evading charge was set at
$10,000.00 out of the 178th District Court.” – Constable Mark Herman
