HIT AND RUN DRIVER TURNS HIMSELF IN TO POLICE

Gilmore, Joel AlanJoel Alan Gilmore, 31 of New Caney is in custody in the Montgomery County Jail on a  charge of failure to stop and render aid. Gilmore went to authorities Tuesday evening and confessed that he was the person responsible for the death of Jody Neal age 28, last Friday night.

Neal was walking along Country West Road near Simon Court in the Country West Subdivision Friday evening close to 6 pm. That is when what was thought to be a red Ford pickup possibly an F250 or F350 four door struck and killed him. The truck continued on. DPS Troopers were searching for the truck and asking for the public’s help in locating the driver. The description was given by residents in the area who had assumed it was a Ford and saw the truck about the same time as the crash. The vehicle Gilmore was driving turned out to be a 2002 Chevrolet truck.

Jody Neal has been in the news before when he was shot six times after an altercation at the Lone Star College Campus on January 22, 2013. He was shot once in the leg, twice in the stomach and twice in the arm. He survived and the shooter Trey Foster was sentenced to TDCJ on May 13, 2015.
