Home Invasion in Shepherd

On Friday around 9:45 a.m., a 911 call came into the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Communications Center reporting an Armed Robbery near the 3000 block of F.M. 223, near Shepherd Texas.

The first unit, Pct. 2 Lt. Ray Atchley, arrived at 9:58 a.m., with Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Jumper right behind him. The deputies located the complainant who, other than being shaken up, was not injured. The deputies learned that the stolen vehicle, a Black Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck, was equipped with “OnStar”. Deputies on the scene contacted OnStar, who began tracking the vehicle. The initial reported location was just before Harris County on US 59 southbound. OnStar and the Sheriff’s Communications Office began relaying the information to the Harris County Dispatcher and Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies located, stopped, and took the suspect into custody near Jensen and Parker, just off of US 59, at 10:28am.

This incident began at 9:17am when the suspect, David Lundy, approached the front door of the home where the complainant was visiting. The complainant did not answer the door when the suspect knocked and the suspect threw a rock through the window and entered the home. The suspect confronted the complainant and pointed a handgun at him. The suspect ordered the complainant to lay on the floor after taking his money, cell phone, and car keys. As the suspect fled the house he fired 1 shot. The complainant crawled to the window and observed the suspect driving off. The complainant, not having access to a phone, went to the end of the driveway at FM 223 and flagged down a car and was able to call 911.

Additional information was received that indicates the suspect may be involved in several other similar break-ins near the area of this home invasion. A stolen Silver Dodge Charger containing a stolen 12 gauge shotgun was recovered, stuck in a pasture, at one of the other break-ins near this scene which may be connected to this suspect. The investigation continues.
