Constable Mark Herman’s Office is one of the founding agencies of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is part of the nationwide Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) program. There are 61 ICAC teams across the country, and each year for the months of March, April, and May, all 61 teams commit themselves to Operation Broken Heart, a coordinated nationwide crackdown on the online exploitation of children. At the national level this year’s operation conducted over 25,000 new investigations, resulting in 2300 alleged child predators being arrested and charged criminally. In the Houston area, 60 suspects were arrested with 152 charges filed.

Constable Mark Herman’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested four alleged online child predators and filed a total of 15 charges. These charges ranged from Possession and Promotion of Child Pornography to Sexual Assault of a Child.

“Precinct 4 would like to remind all parents and guardians to regularly check their children’s electronic devices and engage in active, regular dialogue with their loved ones about the dangers of online predators. Our Criminal Investigations Division regularly provides free Internet Safety presentations to interested groups. Visit our website www.Constablepct4.com or contact us to find out more information about these presentations.” –Constable Mark Herman
