I-45 REOPENED AFTER FATAL CRASH

Just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning an off-duty Conroe Police Officer witnessed a 2013 Peterbilt 18-wheeler pulling a refrigerated trailer start weaving as it traveled north on I-45 between FM 830 and FM 1097. All at once the truck left the roadway and went into the woods. The truck hit and uprooted a 28-foot pine tree before bursting into flames. Conroe and North Montgomery County Fire responded and extinguished the blaze. The driver was deceased. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy and to attempt to positively identify the victim. The road was closed for several hours as the crash was worked. HAZMAT International is now on the scene cleaning up, however,  the freeway is open.
