Just before midnight Thursday Splendora Fire Department responded to a major accident on FM 2090 near Morgan Drive. They arrived finding a pickup truck which had been westbound on FM 2090 had left the roadway and struck a guardrail. The truck then went airborne landing over sixty feet away and slammed into a property owners retaining wall. The vehicle missed striking a utility pole and tree.
MCPR responded to the scene and both the female driver and male passenger refused medical attention. The male passenger who owned the vehicle admitted he was to intoxicated to drive so let Brandi Nicole Laird, 27, of Montgomery drive his vehicle. Both had left a Splendora Club where she was working as a bartender for the night.
After a lengthy field sobriety test on the scene Laird was arrested by DPS Trooper Sullivan and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. She is charged with driving while intoxicated.
