INTOXICATED DRIVER FLEES CRASH SCENE-LEAVES PASSENGER BEHIND

Just after 11 p.m. Sunday night North Montgomery County Fire Department responded to a major accident on Interstate-45 northbound at FM 1097. When they arrived on the scene they found a Toyota had entered the ramp from the freeway to the main lanes. As he did a Williams Brothers dump truck was leaving the construction area and pulled up onto the entrance ramp to continue north. The Toyota driver left almost one-hundred eighty feet of skid on the ramp before striking the truck under the trailer and the rear of the tractor.

With the car extensively damaged the driver identified as Nicholas Timothy Faust, 19, of Willis fled to a friends house. He was arrested a short time later after he decided to go to another friends after the first advised him to turn himself in.

Faust suffered minor injuries and after a trip to the hospital for a Texas mandated blood draw he was transported by Willis Police to the Montgomery County Jail. He is charged with intoxication assault..

His female passenger was transported by MCHD to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition with a head injury.

The truck driver was uninjured.
