Intoxication Manslaughter Charges filed on suspected Drunk Driver

LOZANO(5)

Sunday at 11:47 p.m., deputies with Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hickman’s office were dispatched to a major accident involving a fatality.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a deceased 58-year-old female in a 2008 Chevrolet car. Further investigation determined that a man in a 2012 GMC Sierra truck was proceeding east on FM 2920, at which time he ran a red light at the intersection of FM 2920 and Falvel and crashed into the Chevrolet. The driver of the GMC, identified as Alejandro Lozano, struck the car in the driver’s side portion of the vehicle killing the driver.

At the scene, Alejandro Lozano, 37 of 17715 Wayforest in Houston,  admitted to deputies that he had been drinking alcohol. Additionally, his behavior indicated to deputies that he was intoxicated. Lozano was placed under arrest and asked to participate in field sobriety tests and asked to provide a specimen of his breath, at which time, he refused.

Assistant Chief Mark Herman said, “Our deputies obtained a search warrant and we had Mr. Lozano’s blood taken, without his consent or permission.”

“His blood will be tested for alcohol and any other drugs that may cause impairment.”

The Harris County District Attorney’s office accepted charges of Intoxication Manslaughter on Alejandro Lozano and he was placed in the Harris County jail pending criminal litigation.

Family members of the victim drove up on the accident looking for their loved one when deputies informed them that she was deceased.

Lozano is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
