Tragedy has struck at the IRONMAN Texas competition in The Woodlands. A 54-year-old man was about to complete the swimming portion of the competition and transition to the bike race when, apparently, he had a heart attack. According to Montgomery County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack, witnesses saw the man was in distress and pulled him from the water. He was in full cardiac arrest. CPR was begun immediately and was in progress as the victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands where he was pronounced dead.
