Just after 11 pm Harris County Deputies were involved in a pursuit near Bush Airport. With some in the woods, another male fled to Haverstock Apartments where a K-9 Deputy deployed his dog. That male was captured but required medical attention for a dog bite from the K-9.
As this was happening another K-9 Officer was responding to the scene. As the deputy approached the intersection of North Interchange Parkway and JFK he swerved causing his patrol unit to slide into the wet grass and mud. His vehicle slightly clipped a pole and the vehicle came to rest on its side. The deputy and his K-9 partner were trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut out by the fire department.
The deputy was transported ti Houston Northwest Medical Center with a broken arm. His K-9 partner was taken to a vet to be checked out.
Investigators are trying to understand what caused the deputy to swerve. They are going to view the video to see if a vehicle pulled out or if the deputy was in the left lane and had to swerve to avoid striking a City of Houston barricade which was unlit in the middle of the left lane over a very large pothole.
