KIDNAPPER IN CUSTODY

On January 20, 2015, at approximately 8am, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting on Ocie Lane in North San Jacinto County. Upon arrival witnesses told deputies an unknown male driving a large white ford pickup truck had come to the residence on Ocie Lane and engaged in an argument with the resident. During the argument the suspect produced a rifle and fired 2 shots then struck the resident in the head with the butt of the rifle. The suspect then placed the resident into the truck and left the scene in an unknown direction. Deputies located 2 fired rifle shells and blood at the scene, and other evidence. Further information from witnesses identified the resident/complainant.
Approximately 1 hour later, a 911 call was received regarding an unknown injured man who showed up at a small fishing camp in Trinity County off of FM 356. EMS, Trinity County units and San Jacinto County units responded and found the complainant at that location. The complainant had sustained a large head wound but had not been shot. The complainant confirmed he was taken against his will and that the suspect fired shots at him and struck him with the butt of the rifle, then dropped him off alongside FM356. Afterwards the suspect fled the area. The complainant was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, San Jacinto County Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Michael Wayne Weidner, WM 7/3/1974, who lives on Walker Compound Road in Trinity Texas. A warrant was issued by the District Court in San Jacinto County for the arrest of the Suspect for Aggravated Kidnapping. On January 22, 2015, at approximately 6pm, the San Jacinto County Patrol Tactical Unit, along with Trinity County Sheriff’s Office units, located the suspect as he returned home and took him into custody without incident. A rifle and other evidence was recovered at the scene. The suspect was transported to the San Jacinto County Jail, and was booked on the charge of Aggravated Kidnapping.
Sheriff Greg Capers would like to thank Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace and his deputies for their assistance in this investigation.
