Latest briefing on Hurricane Zeta-SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA

Zeta is now a hurricane tracking NW at10 mph. Maximum sustained winds remain at 80 mph. Hurricane Watch in effect from Morgan City, LA to MS/AL border. Tropical Storm Watch from west of Morgan City to Intracoastal City, LA. Confidence is increasing in a US landfall near SE Louisiana.  Most likely impacts for SE Texas coast are elevated surf and tides, especially Wednesday.
Zeta remains on track for landfall along the northeast corner of the Yucatan Peninsula.
From there, confidence is increasing that the storm’s track will be well to our east with a Southeast Louisiana landfall most likely, mitigating concern for most of Southeast Texas. However, the storm should generate higher seas and increased tides right on the Gulf coast. Further, land interaction could always cause unforeseen changes in the storm when it enters the Gulf.
Because of that, it’s prudent to continue to monitor this storm, especially if you have interests on the Gulf and/or on the immediate coastline.
