LifeFlight was enroute back to Hermann Hospital just after 11 p.m. last night with a patient when the pilot got a transmission pressure reading drop down to zero. He immediately notified Hermann base of the problem and landed safely at the Keefer Crossing Middle School parking lot at FM 1485 and US 59.
New Caney Fire Department firefighters who had been busy all night cooking for today’s chili supper quickly responded to the scene.
Hermamn Hospital dispatched another helicopter from it’s Baytown base to land at the site and transfer the patient. They were on the scene within approximately five minutes.
After the patient was safely on the way to Houston in the second helicopter the pilot of the first began to inspect his helicopter. Finding no problems except possibly a faulty gauge he lifted and returned to Hermann Hospital.
