HUNTSVILLE, TX- A 25-year-old Conroe man drowned while swimming in Huntsville State Park on Saturday. He was identified as Gracielle Izquierdo-Lopez.
Just before 2 p.m. the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Walker County EMS and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a drowning at the Huntsville State Park in the swimming area.
Investigating officers learned the victim was seen swimming out to a floating platform with two female friends. The females said the victim knew how to swim. When they reached the platform and looked back, they could not see him.
Minutes later several other swimmers began to search for the victim, diving under the water, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Texas parks and Wildlife later recovered the body near the platform.
An autopsy was ordered and the case remains under investigation.
