LOCAL MAN SENTENCED TO 32 YEARS IN PRISON FOR TWO COUNTS OF AGGREVATED ROBBERY AND FELONIOUS VEHICLE FLIGHT

On Sunday, April 17, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. the Magnolia Police Department was dispatched to a robbery in progress at the local McDonalds. As the officer’s arrived in the area they noticed a white pickup that had just left the scene traveling east several blocks away. A police pursuit ensued, reaching speeds of 60 to 65 mph, traveling west now on FM 1488 towards Waller County. A 21 year old white male was taken into custody by the Magnolia Police Department just over the Waller County line.

The original scene was investigated by the Magnolia Police Department along with the Montgomery County Crime Scene Unit and detectives. It was found the white male entered the family oriented busy restaurant on a quiet Sunday afternoon. As family and friends ate, the white male entered with a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun and pointed it to the chest of two separate employees. The male demanded each employee to remove the cash from the cash register. The male then exited the restaurant, entering his vehicle and leaving the scene. The male failed to stop his vehicle as officers followed his evading vehicle with emergency lights and sirens activated. The subject was taken into custody and held at the Montgomery County Jail until trial.

On September 19-20, 2011 Detective Clack and Officer Diaz along with several Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies testified in a sentencing hearing held at the Montgomery County Courts, in Conroe, TX. After 16 hours the jury charged the Stephen Roth of Hockley, TX with two counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Felony Evading with a Vehicle. Mr. Roth received 15 years for each robbery and 2 years for evading, totaling 32 years in the Texas State Penitentiary.
