Early this morning, Deputies with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office executed an Arrest Warrant on a suspect wanted in connection with an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit a Felony at the Executive Suites and Inn located in Shepherd, Texas.
On July 27, 2019, Deputies with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Executive Inn and Suites located off of Highway 59 in Shepherd. A 57-year-old female, working as a maid at the hotel, told Deputies while she was cleaning the bathroom, she was surprised by the intruder who walked inside the hotel room. The man, later identified as Defendant David Scott Holcomb, 37, from Henderson, Texas, grabbed her from behind clinching both his hands around her neck, commenced to strangling her while dragging her away from the bathroom.
Defendant Holcomb began striking her in the face with his fists as she struggled to get away from the violent attacker. Defendant Holcomb used the hotel room telephone cord wrapping the cord around her neck causing blockage to her airway, a first degree Felony.
Positive identification was made so Deputies and Detectives issued an arrest warrant on Defendant Holcomb. The victim was transported to a local hospital and has since made a full recovery. Working off of a tip around 2 o’clock this morning, near 1500 block South Byrd, in Shepherd, patrol Deputies with the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest warrant taking Defendant Holcomb into custody without incident where he booked in the San Jacinto County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary with the intent to commit a Felony and further charges are pending. At the time of this press release, records indicated Defendant Holcomb had several encounters with Law Enforcement totaling 9 arrests. Roughly 4 of those arrests are cases that involve Assaults with family members, drug possession and evading in a motor vehicle. Defendant Holcomb is a recent parolee from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the case.
