At 2:15 Tuesday morning the driver of an 18-wheeler hauling household appliances apparently dozed off running his truck off the right shoulder striking two highway signs then ripping out one-hiundred-thirty-feet of guardrail. He then jack-knifed crossing all lanes of southbound IH-45 south of FM 1488, coming to rest on the concrete barrier between the northbound side
The driver had minor injuries.
Conroe police investigated the accident and kept the roadway shut down until shortly after 5 am.
Needham Road Fire responded to the scene as did Woodlands Fire Department as the trucks fuel tank ruptured dripping almost one-hundred gallons were dumped on the freeway.
