CONROE- A one-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Walden Road left a local woman clinging to life.
The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. when a 2002 Lexus SUV driven by 45-year-old Elisha Gail Mayfield of Conroe left the roadway just past Bois D Arc for unknown reasons, crossing a ditch and striking several trees, according to Trooper Ward with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Mayfield was trapped in the wreckage and was extricated using cutting tools by Montgomery Fire Department.
Mayfield was treated on the scene and transported by PHI Air Medical to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition with traumatic injuries. The initial investigation indicated Mayfield was not wearing a seatbelt.
