At 945pm Sunday, Cypress Creek EMS and Spring Fire Departments were dispatched to a major accident on Cypresswood Drive just east of I45 and behind Spring High School. They arrived on the scene to find the 35-year-old male driver of a Honda Sedan in traumatic arrest. Life Flight was dispatched but before they arrived on the scene the driver, identified as Carlos Solis, 35, of Spring, was pronounced dead. His 11-year-old passenger suffered no injuries. A Infiniti G35 sedan driven by a 16-year-old female who just got off work was also not injured. The damage to both vehicles were minimal.
According to Harris County Sheriff’s Department Accident Investigator Deputy said the Honda was westbound on Cypresswood when the Solis attempted to turn into the Spring Park Apartments driveway. His left front struck the eastbound Infiniti G35 left fender to left fender. Airbags deployed in each vehicle. Harris County deputies are awaiting an autopsy report as to cause of death. One of the firefighters on the scene commented that his only injury was from the airbag.
Cypresswood Drive which was closed east of 45 was reopened just after 1 am.
Deputies do not believe either driver was impaired. Deputies on the scene identified the 11-year-old as the cousin of the 35-year-old deceased male.
