Memorial Day 2018 was fairly uneventful for the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol. Several safety checks, and normal patrol until late that afternoon when the call came ion from the dispatcher that a child was stuck on a nail in the water. She was reported to be at the Lake Conroe Park on the South Side of the Lake just off SH 105 West. Constables started that direction immediately. Efrin Gramillo a Montgomery County Precinct 1 non-law enforcement employee who works at the park had first heard the screams for help. He rushed to the bulk head and saw the small girl in pain, with the water up to her chin and appeared to be drowning. He jumped in the water with her. He then called for backup. Within minutes Lt Cade with the Lake Patrol arrived at the dock and sprinted to the scene. He immediately got in the water, taking over for Gramillo . Cade told Commissioners this morning that Gramillo was calm as could be during the entire situation and translated for the rescuers through the entire operation. Cade said MCHD Medics arrived on the scene and were able to medicate her to alleviate the pain while rescuers pulled he foot off. Gramillo want to be a firefighter.
