Early Wednesday afternoon a driver struck a female motorist on US 59 in Splendora causing her to lose control and run the ditch on the feeder. The vehicle that struck her, a 2001 black Cavalier. The driver then fled. However, before he did so he left his bumper and license plate behind. A short time later police found the vehicle parked behind the car wash across from City Hall in Splendora. After searching most of the afternoon he was located hiding in the lumber yard on 1st Stree in Splendora. Jeff Bell, 24, was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid. The female driver was shaken up but not seriously injured.
