Approximately 8 a.m. Friday Deputies from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious vehicle call near the intersection of F.M. 563 and C.R. 133n. The caller had obtained the license plate to the vehicle. This license plate was checked and was determined to be a stolen vehicle from Galveston County, Texas.
As Deputies arrived in the area, one of the Deputies spotted the vehicle and a short chase began. The suspects drove the stolen vehicle, a blue newer model Toyota pickup truck into the tree line and exited the vehicle, fleeing on foot into the trees and marshlands.
Deputies from the LCSO converged into the area and a Command Post was established. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Department of Criminal Justice assisted in the search of the three men with a helicopter, tracking dogs and horses.
Deputies found numerous stolen items in the bed of the truck and inside the truck. With the assistance of citizens in the area, some photographs taken of the men as they were on the run matched photographs found inside the stolen vehicle. All three men have been identified.
Christopher Ryan Treece, 20, has previous convictions for robbery in August of 2008.He was given probation in that case in Harris County. Then in September 2010 he was given 2 years probation for assault causes bodily injury and failure to appear in Liberty County.
Chance Hunt,was born July 17, 1991 was given 1 year in jail on October 28, 2010 for auto theft in Galveston County after being arrested May 5, 2010 for auto theft. While he was out on bond for that charge he stole another vehicle in Liberty County on August 19, 2010 and was arrested the same day. On September 24, he was given 6 months in State Jail for that charge
William Dale Perkins, was born April 15, 1971 who has mostly credit card, and possession cases was given five years on October 6, 2009 for possessing a firearm. He has multiple other convictions including possession of a prohibited weapon, trespassing, child abandonment and child endangerment. He was released on parole on February 18th of this year.
The three men are still on the run at the time of this release. In the course of this search, one of the horse mounted TDCJ Officers was injured as was his horse. Also, one of the dogs used in the search was later found deceased, cause of death is unknown. The search was temporarily suspended, allowing personnel on the scene to hydrate and recover.
Late last night a sighting of two of the three was reported on County Road 133 South. The third one was reported not with them. The area they are in is heavy mash land with plenty of snakes and alligators.
LCSO Investigators warn all three men should be considered armed and dangerous. All three men have extensive criminal backgrounds.
