On Wednesday, the Cleveland Police Department was called to the Casa Del Pueblo restaurant and meat market located in the 700 block of North Washington in regard to a robbery.
Upon arrival, Sergeant Sergio Lopez met with the victim of the robbery, an employee, standing outside of the business.
The victim advised Sergeant Lopez that two suspects entered the building at 7:02 a.m. wearing dark hoodies with dark masks concealing their faces. One suspect was wearing blue jeans that were light in color and dark colored shoes. The other was wearing dark blue jeans and white shoes.
One of the suspects brandished a handgun when they entered the business. One of the robbers forcefully escorted an employee to the cash register where they forced the employee to open the cash drawer. The other suspect ordered several customers to the ground while pointing a handgun at them.
Approximately two minutes later, the two suspects fled the location, leaving in a green Dodge single cab pick-up. A short time later Officer Lauren Trevino located the suspect vehicle which was unoccupied at the corner of Booth and San Jacinto St. The steering wheel column had been damaged, and the vehicle was found to be stolen from a resident located at Sleepy Hollow Apartments.
The vehicle was processed for evidence by Detective John Shaver and Detective Kevin Cooke. An ongoing investigation into the robbery is being conducted by the Cleveland Police Department.
