CONROE – Montgomery County Hospital District is offering its Safe Sitter Classes for free. The first one of the summer is scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 9 at the MCHD Administration Building located at 1400 S Loop 336 West in Conroe, Texas 77304. The cost per student is usually $60, and the class includes an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED certification.
Pre-registration is required, and classes fill quickly. Students should also bring a sack lunch for the all-day class.
Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting .The Instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR.
Make sure your children are prepared in the event of an emergency this summer if they are staying home alone. The skills learned from this class could literally save a life. MCHD will hold classes on June 9, June 23, July 7, July 21, August 11, August 25, September 8, and September 22.
