MESSAGE FROM CONROE SGT. JAMES KELEMAN TO THE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE GIVEN SUPPORT THROUGH THE SHOOTING INCIDENT

I finally got to read all of your comments regarding the shooting and I can assure you that they were very uplifting. I can’t respond to everyone but I want to thank you all for your support and the overwhelming support my wife has received from strangers prior to this incident. I know the media has centered their attention around me but the real heroes in this story are the officers on the scene with me that day. Officer Raleigh was at my side as you can hear in the audio, Officer Koska is yelling " Officer down" so I can get help, and Officers Berry, Brockett, and Sullivan returned fire so that I could see my family again. Without a doubt I am upset over the loss of my eye, but it hurts me more to know my brothers had to take another persons life to save mine. I can never repay them for their sacrifices that day and I know none of them regret a thing they did that day because we all got to go home to our loved ones. I love you my brothers!

Sgt I hope only good comes out of this ugly thing that happened. You and everybody else were only doing your job and its only that perp who is to blame for anything. I used to dispatch for you when you were with WPD but I’m no longer a dispatcher. I’m so glad you got to come home to your family–it’s all that matter. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for you! Thank you for your service and commitment!

Sgt. Kelleman, you did the right thing. You tried to communicate with the individual and calm the situation. I’m very sorry that you were the one who suffered. The video describes the scene very well that you contacted dispatch with the concern of the individuals inside being safe. You absolutely put the concern of the public above all else.
The media has covered both sides of the story, there is always the person who just “snaps”. Thank you and to all of your “brothers” who do your jobs and protect us in Conroe. Please for the sake of those of us who have supported you, do not dwell on what was lost but rather what you still have. We have you – couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you.
