METH LAB BUSTED NEAR SPLENDORA

Saturday, at approximately 8:00p.m. Deputies from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare concern call on County Road 3731. When the deputies arrived they spoke to a woman who resides at the location.  Based upon information provided at the scene, Deputies located methamphetamine inside the residence.

Deputies then exited the home and walked to the back yard.  Once Deputies looked into the shed they observed a “cooking” operation whereby a person produces methamphetamine.  One arrest was made as a result of this incident.  The suspect was identified as David Gentry, 37  of Splendora.  Mr. Gentry was charged with Possession / Manufacturing a controlled substance.  Mr. Gentry’s bond was set at $30,000.00.

Deputies from the LCSO employed the use of their new K-9 unit in this incident which proved to be of great assistance.  Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit and Texas Department of Public Safety Investigators also responded to and assisted with this investigation.  Law Enforcement personnel conducted the dangerous removal of hazardous materials which are involved in the manufacture of Methamphetamine.  Law Enforcement Officers on scene had to use self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and specialized chemical protectant gloves in the removal of evidence and elements of the manufacturing operation.  The combination of chemicals and materials used in the manufacturing process are highly explosive and pose a significant danger to anyone near the area.
