Sumeebreeze well said. Animals are very expensive and if someome thinks they can just drive through a walmart parking lot and get a “free” dog or cat and thats that, they fall into the category of the typical trailer park dumbass of todays society. Sorry i had to say this but facts are facts…..so i guess im not sorry, im right……hmmmm. vete are as expensive as our doctors, make no mistake

….says the person who cannot spell out the word you. Least I’ll never have to resort to name calling. However, you did a fabulous job of proving my point: shut down the shelters and allocate the money towards something such as education.
Summerbreeze I admire you for being able to budget, we need more people in this world that understand how budgets work and the concept of a budget.

So this round about discussion boils down to common sense, which many people don’t have, or will swear that they are more common sense than the next person. That said, no, Veterinarians should not drop their prices, they chose their job for the love and care of animals, and they have bills to pay. If you can’t afford less than $100.00 bucks to insure you and your pet won’t be adding to the shelters list, then please, don’t get a pet. No, I am not rich. I am retired, and on a budget. That said, my five rescue dogs are all fixed and micro-chipped. Didn’t happen over night, but we plan our priorities. It’s called responsibility. Pets, kids, life style, own up to it. If you’re not the answer, you’re the problem.

If you can’t afford to get them fix why are you even trying to acquire a pet? Do you think a vet can afford to drop their prices just to accommodate someone and if that animal get sick can you afford to take it to the vet? This country is how many of trillions in the hole? There are much better things to allocate money to than an animal shelter. I.e. Veterans, schools, etc

Well summer breeze another thing. Heafty fine? It is a heafty price to have such things done. So if one cannot afford to have a animal fixed because it is a heafty price then how would one afford a heafty punishment. And also. One should be able to own an animal and properly take care of it . it is just that it costs too much to have them fixed

I am married to a vet. And I agree, everyone seems to care about animals and foreigners other than the ones that fought for their country

I love animals and it would be nice if you could get them fixed for a decent amount. As Bob barker said. Control the pet population have your dog or cat spayed or neutered. Problem is, they want a heafty price for such. Any ideas on how to get that done on a TIGHT budget

I wish there was a law that stated if you choose to own a dog or cat, that animal will be spayed or neutered, with a hefty fine for those who don’t comply. Let’s make that a hefty fine and a week walking these dogs down the “green mile” to where they will be euthanized. Some people just don’t get it.
